Companies ARE Hiring - How Are You Going To Get Noticed?

Upon returning from the largest search, recruiting and staffing conference of the year, I took some time to reflect on the positives - primarily that companies appear to be hiring again! Data shared at the conference seemed to suggest that the "bottom" of the recession was in June - since then things have been showing modest improvement.

So now that we know things are improving, the bigger question is do market yourself like this or are you still using a Word document? During his keynote speech, the CEO of ManPower took out his smartphone and showed a picture to the audience. He said, "it won't be long until you are hiring candidates through your phone" - how right he is.

I can't stress how powerful a professional video resume can be - it will get you noticed and increase your chance for hire by 3o percent or more. Read the blog sites and you will see that virtually all companies will be integrating video technology into their application process - it's not a matter of if, but when. Even the EEOC understands that social networking sites have changed everything. Any recruiter worth their salt goes to Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn before meeting with a candidate. Who wouldn't want to see and hear someone prior to meeting them?

It will be interesting to watch this technology proliferate - HR and staffing professionals are not known for being "first movers". Guess who will drive this change? Candidates! More and more savvy candidates are taking advantage of video resume technology and integrating the finished product on their social media sites. Make sure you are showing hiring managers that you "get it" by creating your video resume. Check out TalentRooster.com - we will make sure you capture your best 60 seconds. Happy Hunting!
